How to Train Your Dog - Never Mind the Size or Breed!

A litter of puppies that grow up in an environment dominated by humans are bound to be more amicable than puppies reared away from a human setting. Human contact over a consistent period with puppies foster the development of well mannered puppies. Training your puppies to obey your command is a vital part of a dog’s life.

The first eight weeks of a puppy’s life is crucial because they are its formative years. Puppies that are cuddled and petted during the first eight weeks of their lives grow up psychologically and emotionally fine. Dogs that are problematic in nature most likely never had all the physical contact the needed in their early developmental stages.

A dog will be able to respond to a command if you use it more often. Consistency in dog training helps your dog to respond positively to your commands. Hand signals and body language are all part of the communicative tools used by dog trainer to train a dog.

Herding dogs are born with the instinct to herd. Herding dogs are usually used in farms and the countryside to herd cattle or sheep. Basically most owners of herding dogs use audible command tools to train their dogs because of the nature of the herding job.

Much outrage has been expressed over the manufacture of the electronic collar because it perceived by some as an inappropriate tool for training dogs. The electronic collar is called remote dog training by its manufacturers and is used to train a dog from a considerable distance. The currents that an electronic collar releases are not lethal to the dog.

Your hands should be an integral part of training your dog. Dogs are skilled at reading body language and can easily understand any signal you send to them using your body. Non-verbal gestures are excellent dog training communication modes.

Training your dog requires a firm knowledge of dog training skills. You can either obtain dog-training skills from a dog trainer or coach yourself through related literature. Without the right amount of patience you will be unable to communicate your needs to your dog because dog training requires lot of patience.

If your dog training commands don’t seem to be having any effect on the behavior of your dog, don’t be quick to blame yourself. A dog may fail to respond to a string of commands because of physical or psychological disorders. Take your dog to see a dog behavioral analyst if your dog is acting out of order.
