A Primer on Cars Fueled by Hydrogen

By: Jay Edwards

When you watch cable news, and pick up the paper or watch TV news, you might come to the conclusion that the energy crisis can only be solved by big auto.

With a little more digging or research and you soon find out about other alternative innovative technology out there that also utilize hydrogen as motor vehicle fuel. These inventions are not usually published in the mainstream media but exist in the domain of small R&D companies and, in some cases, stand alone inventors.

These alternative technologies have one important key attribute. They produce hydrogen on board the vehicle as it is being used, or what is referred to as hydrogen “on demand”.

The energy is generated from an instrument mounted in the automobile that creates hydrogen as it is burned doing away with volatile tanks of compressed hydrogen. The primary product for generating the on board hydrogen is H2O, plain old water.

You may have already come to realize that this takes care of the two main issues of the mainstream R&D.

When hydrogen is on-demand there are no expensive tanks of hydrogen gas. The only addition to a motor vehicle is a set up that produces the hydrogen and feeds it to the motor's carburetor system.

Second of all, the power to produce energy is very, very cheap and environmentally friendly. It is an on board device that uses H2O. And what is cheaper and more abundant than water? And the electric current is created by the electrical system. Hydrogen burns totally clean by oxidizing to produce water as the only emission.
